Hand-Penned Petals, Happiest of Birthday's, Birthday Card, 2021-2022 Stampin' Up! Catalog

What caught my eye about today's card was the colors. I love the richness of them. And I like the stamped background on the Designer Series Paper (DSP). You can see the original card here

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. On top of that is a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Soft Succulent card stock. I could have used a half-sheet for the card but my supplies are limited so I went with the quarter sheet and covered a piece of Basic White.

I cut a piece of Evening Evergreen card stock to measure 4-7/8" x 3-5/8" and a piece of DSP from the "Hand-Penned" 12" x 12" package to measure 4-3/4" x 3-1/2".  I took the DSP and set it on top of the Evening Evergreen card stock and I jogged it to the right side so it was even and still equal on the top and bottom. I'm doing this because I want to cut both pieces at the same time. I used the scalloped edge die from the "Penned Flowers" die set.

Then I took the two dried flower looking image from the "Hand-Penned" set and stamped them using Soft Succulent ink for both the top and the bottom of the flower image. I taped the DSP to the Evening Evergreen piece.  And then I taped that piece to the front of the card.

I took a piece of Basic White card stock and I die cut the scalloped edge. I trimmed the piece to 3 bumps. Yup, a new way of measuring. I needed three bumps to match the bumps of the DSP and Evening Evergreen piece. I stamped the words from the "Happiest of Birthday's" using Evening Evergreen ink. I made sure the piece was cut to the size I wanted it before I stamped the words. It ended up being 3-1/4" x 3 bumps!  I tied a piece of black twine around the left side. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set aside.

The larger flowers image from the "Hand-Penned Petals" set and was stamped using black Memento ink. I used the matching die to cut it out. Then I colored the leaves using both light and dark Mint Macaron Blends pens.  And the flowers were colored in using both light and dark Daffodil Delight Blends pens. I added Wink of Stella to both flowers. I just felt they needed a little sparkle.

The words were set in place on the front of the card. The original card had the bottom bump a full bump but I didn't cut my card stock the same so I ended up with a half bump. You could add 1/8" to the length of both the DSP and the card stock if you want a full bump on the bottom.  I set the words in place and then dimensionals were added to the back of the flower piece and set in place on the card.

Genial Gems were added to the card and the card was done.

This was a fun, quick and easy card to make. I love the colors. I really love how the background color makes the flower just pop.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see today's card,
Wanda

  1. Love how you matted the dsp using the scalloped edge on the dsp and the black card stock! Very pretty card!
