Color & Contour, Butterfly Brilliance, Birthday Card, 2021-2022 Stampin' Up! Catalog

As you can see, I didn't put away my Melon Mambo ink. I should have. After yesterday's card I realized that it's teh color that brought the card down. And same for today.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock.

I cut a 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of Basic White and I set it on my scoring board. I scored the piece 1/2" down on the shorter side to the 2-1/2" mark. I  turned it a quarter turn and scored 1/2" down to the 3-3/4" mark. I turned it again and repeated the score lines until I had gone all the way around the piece. When I cut my card stock, I can feel what is the front and what is the back by the edge of the piece. It seems the front curves down ever so slightly. When I turn it over I can see the back looks and feels different than the front.  Not that most people notice this, but I do.  I did turn my piece over before I scored because I wanted the raised part to be on the front.

Next I stamped the butterfly from the "Butterfly Brilliance" set using Melon Mambo ink. And then I stamped the flower from the "Color & Contour" set using Melon Mambo ink. They were die cut and then I set them on top of the scored piece to see where I was going to stamp the words. I stamped them using Melon Mambo ink. I should have used Old Olive or black Mememto ink.

Once the words were stamped, I set the scored piece in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals. Then I set the butterfly and flower in place using Dimensionals. I didn't press the flower down because I needed to add some greenery. I used the "Symetrical Border" punch and Old Olive card stock for the cute little leaves. I added some snail tape to the back and slid them under the flower.

A pearl was added to the center of the flower and the card was done. I think the flower could use some color as well as the butterfly.  And the birthday greeting should be a darker color.

So after looking at the card on the screen here I often get a different prespective of it. I ended up adding some Wink of Stella to the butterfly. It picked up the Melon Mambo color and smeared it around the butterfly and the butterfly had some color. Then I did it around the center of the flower. It didn't pick up as much color but it did pick up some. It does look much better than the plain stamped image.  And I like the card much better. So then I took yesterday's card and added some Wink of Stella to the center of the flowers and out about 1/4" to 1/2" from the center and I like it SO much better too.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see this interesting card today.  Tomorrow I will have a better one. I promise!
