Sweet Strawberry, Birthday Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog

I had made a few extra strawberries yesterday from the "Sweet Strawberries" stamp set and I didn't want them to get ruined or lost so I thought I'd try to come up with a new card with the pieces I had sitting on my worktable.  And this is what I came up with.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock.  This card opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 5-1/2" x 1-1/2" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Berry Delightful" 12" x 12" package that was available in the latest Sale-a-Bration book.  I still have some sheets to use up and I am going to be doing that.  After spending the last week going through retired DSP and pricing it for a future garage sale, I decided I'd be using the papers more and making it a goal to use them up. The DSP used here was actually a scrap. I know, you can hardly use up a 12" x 12" sheet by cutting it in 5-1/2" x 1-1/2" pieces!

I cut a 5-1/2" x 1-3/4" piece of Basic Black card stock for the layer. I taped that layer in place about 1/2" up from the bottom.

The words are from the "Sweet Strawberry" set and were stamped using Poppy Parade ink. Then they were die cut using the second largest "Stitched Circle" die.  A Basic Black scalloped was die cut that was a little bit larger than the stitched circle. Those two circles were taped together. I wasn't sure where I was going with this yet. I just knew I wanted to make a birthday card and it needed to go above the DSP.

I decided to cut the circle in half, well, a little less than half because I needed to tuck it behind the DSP strip and make sure the words show. I taped the circle and slipped it under the DSP strip and pressed it down to hold it in place.

I glued the stem to the strawberry and glued the leaf to the right side. Then I added Dimensionals to the piece and set it in place on the left side of the card.  I was thinking of adding some Wink of Stella to the strawberry but I didn't.  I'm till thinking it could use it! It doesn't show up in the photos anywhere, so just pretend that it's on there and sparkling away! LOL

I took one of the tiny flowers that were left over from yesterday too and I added it to the word piece using glue. A pearl was set in the center of the flower and the card was done.

This is a very quick and easy card to make, even if I had to start from the beginning with no extra pieces on hand. I think it's a bright and cheery card too!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see this cheery birthday card,
Wanda
