Sweet Ice Cream, Beautiful Friendship, Birthday Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog

Happy to see you here today!  And sorry the card is not one of my favorites!!!  As you know I post them all, the good, the bad and the ugly!  This is kind of between bad and ugly!!!  I think the problem here lies in the length of that lacy frame strip. If it were shorter???  Or maybe I should have made this a triple scoop ice cream cone and it may have filled in that space better??  My original plan was to have three ice cream cones side by side (so the card would be orientated differently), but the frame was too narrow.  Too long one direction and too narrow the other.  Oh well!  Anyway, here's my card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. This card opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I took a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Real Red card stock for the layer on top. I did not tape this piece to the front of the card yet, I needed to cut a circle from it later.

I cut a 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Ice Cream Corner" 12" x 12" package.

Then I die cut the long lacy frame from the "Ornate Layers" dies.  This is a very fun and pretty set of dies. I uses Real Red card stock for this. I also cut a 1-1/16" x 4-1/8" piece of Basic White for the inside of that piece.

The ice cream was made by stamping the image from the "Sweet Ice Cream" set using Soft Sea Foam ink. The sprinkles on it were stamped using Early Espresso ink. Then the piece was punched out using the "Ice Cream Cone Builder" punch.

The cone was made using the DSP from the "Ice Cream Corner" package. But the set also has a cute stamp for the cone and another one for the hash marks. But I used the DSP because I liked it much better because the stamped and punched one has a white border around it and it just wouldn't go well on that white background strip as well as the DSP does.

I stamped the words from the "Beautiful Friendship" set using Real Red ink on Basic White card stock. I die cut them using the third stitched circle from the "Stitched Shapes" framelets. And then I cut a scalloped circle using that piece of Real Red card stock I cut for the first layer.  I taped the word circle to the scalloped circle. I added Dimensionals to the back and set it aside.

I taped the Real Red piece to the front of the card and the DSP piece on top of that.

Then I taped the Real Red lacy piece in place on the front of the card.

The cone was glued to the ice cream and then Dimensionals were added to the back and the cone was set in place on the lacy piece. The words were then set in place just below and off to the side of the cone.

It looked to plain so I added some of the candy sprinkles that are in the spring catalog. I glued them in place and that was it.  I think it could still use something but I'm not sure what. I probably won't be making another card like this! LOL

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to have a look at todays card,
Wanda
