Sailing Home, Itty Bitty Greetings, Masculine Sympathy Card

Today I had to put aside my new stamp sets and play with some older ones to make a masculine sympathy card.  It's sad to have to make these so often lately.

This card is like a card within a card.  I had to put some thought into putting it together and cutting the pieces. You will have it easier as I will be giving you the measurements.

The base of the card is a quarter sheet of Basic Black card stock, 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".

I cut a piece of Misty Moonlight card stock that measured 8" x 5-1/4". I scored and folded it at 4" on the long side. Folded it measures 4" x 5-1/4".

The Whisper White piece on the inside measures 7-1/4" x 4-7/8".  This piece was folded at 5-7/8" on the long side. Now if you don't trust yourself with writing inside a card, you may want to do your writing first and then the stamping and sponging.  I didn't and I was a bit nervous but I did get it written nicely without having to start over.  Many times when I make cards I don't add the inside piece until I've written on it.

The first thing I did was got some Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "World of Good" 12" x 12" paper pack.  I cut it 3-5/8" x 4-7/8". I also cut a piece of copper foil paper at 3-3/4" x 5".  I lined the two pieces up and added a small bit of tape to the center area where the circle was to be cut out.  I used the 2-7/16" circle and cut both out at the same time.  Then I took the DSP and the next size larger circle and die cut it. That circle measured 2-11/16".  I separated the two pieces and I set the foil piece on top of the front of the card and I lined it up so I could cut it out. Once the circles were cut out I taped the foil and DSP together and then taped those two to the front of the card.

I took a piece of Whisper White card stock, I set it inside the card where it was to go and I lightly traced the circle so I would know were to sponge.  Now remember the fold of this piece is on the right side, not the left like "normal" cards are done. I sponged on some Misty Moonlight in the water area and a little in the upper part of the sky. Then I sponged on some Daffodil Delight just above the water level and then I sponged on some Melon Mambo above the Daffodil Delight and a bit into it.  I thought the sky could use a bit more color so I added a little bit more.

The sail boat is from the "Sailing Home" set and I used Misty Moonlight ink to stamp it. I die cut it with the matching die.

The words are from the "Itty Bitty Greetings" set and were stamped using Misty Moonlight ink. I die cut them using the die that came with the "Sailing Home" set. I love it when there's fun word border dies in the sets. The words were stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White.

To assemble the card you will be taking the Misty Moonlight piece and taping it to the Basic Black piece.

The Whisper White piece was added next (oh and don't forget to erase those pencil marks once the ink is dry).  Make sure you tape it onto the inside of the Misty Moonlight piece but with the fold on the outside. This card opens from left to right on the front and then from right to left on the inside.

After taping the Whisper White piece in, I closed the card and added the sail boat using Dimensionals.

The word piece was added using Dimensionals and the card was ready to write in.

I do like how it turned out. It's prefect for a masculine sympathy card.

I apologize for how the photos are laid out. I have been having trouble getting them to be under each other and have the words all the way to the top. But it doesn't change the message of the post!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time today to stop by and have a look,                                    Wanda
