Sailing Home, Masculine Card, 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! Catalog

Oh my gosh.  When Windows wants to update it wants to do it immediately. It doesn't let you do half the stuff you want to do on your computer.  It freezes open windows and won't open other windows and you finally give in and reboot so it can update so you can move on to what you want to do.  UGH!  Oh and most of the time this happens, the update is a super big one that takes a lot of time to do.  Especially when you want to or need to do other things on your computer.  Okay, done with my rant and my computer is now updated!!! LOL

I found this fun card on Pinterest but I don't have the link because it got shut down when my computer had to update.  I looked in the history and because I had several other windows open the one I wanted wasn't in there.  The original card had the center part as the part of the card that opens.  I didn't like that layout so I just made the card into a regular card.   I tried to find it on Pinterest but it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack.  But the layout looked like the one in this card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Soft Suede card stock.  The fold is on the left and it opens on the right.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock and I taped it to the card base.

I cut a 1-3/4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the 12" x 12" "Come Sail Away" pack.

I cut a 1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of Soft Suede card stock strip.  I taped it to the edge of the DSP.  Then I taped the two pieces to the front of the card on the left.

I cut a 2-3/4" x 3-1/4" piece of Night of Navy card stock.

I cut a 2-1/2" x 3" piece of Whisper White card stock.

I stamped the boat from the "Sailing Home" on a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock.  I stamped it using Night of Navy ink.  I die cut the boat using the "Smooth Sailing" die.  I set the boat onto the Whisper White piece to see where the words and birds needed to go.  I set them up in my Stamparatus. Another thing I like about the Stamparatus is it's size. I can set up the boat in one corner, turn the Stamparatus 180 and set up another stamp in the other corner.  Just in case I want to make more than one card too!!  And I am going to make more. I have a full sheet of that DSP.  I didn't care much for the images on either side and I was thrilled when I found this card.  I stamped the words using Soft Suede ink and the birds were stamped using Night of Navy ink.  I taped the Whisper White piece to the Night of Navy piece.

I set the boat in place using Dimensionals.  And I set the Night of Navy piece in place on the front of the card, centering it as much as I could.

I added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock to the inside of the card and the card was done.

This was a very fun card to make and I was glad I was able to use some of this DSP.  Some DSP that is so busy looking needs to be used in smaller pieces and then it becomes something of interest. I'm going to have to remember that the next pack of DSP I buy that has busy sheets that I don't care for.  I'll let you know how that works out.

Thank you SO very much for taking the time to stop by today,
Wanda
