Butterfly Gala, Free as a Bird, Perennial Essence, Thank You Card

While looking on the net I ran across a fun card that I thought would be pretty using current items. You can see the original card here.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Crumb Cake. My card was cut on the 8-1/2" side and scored on the long side at 5-1/2".  It opens from the bottom with the fold being on top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Balmy Blue and taped it to the Crumb Cake card base.

I had a 1-3/4" x 5-1/8" strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Perennial Essence" 12" x 12" pack.

I cut a 1-5/8" x 5-1/8" and a 7/8" x 5-1/8" pieces of Whisper White card stock for the front.  I stamped the words from the "Free as a Bird" set. I stamped them using black Memento ink.

I cut two strips of gold foil paper measuring 5-1/8" x at least 1/2".  I taped the strips to the Whisper White pieces.  Then I taped the left side of the DSP to the left panel.  I taped that to the Balmy Blue piece.  Then I took the right side and added tape and lined up the edges and set it in place.  I love how the flower is almost centered.

The butterflies are from the "Butterfly Gala" set. I was going to use the new "Butterfly Wishes" set but the butterflies in there are more textured.  So I stamped the two butterflies from the "Butterfly Gala" set using Versa Mark.  I embossed them using gold embossing powder.  I sponged on some Balmy Blue on the outside of the wings and I sponged on some Blushing Bride on the inside.  I also stamped the body part using Soft Suede ink.  I did that after I was all done embossing and sponging.  I set the butterflies in place using Dimensionals.  I did bend the wings up a bit before I added the Dimensionals.

I REALLY like how this card looks.  It's SO soft and pretty looking. I LOVE this layout and I think I may dig out some retired DSP and use it to make more cards like this.  I have way too much retired papers.  But using a 1-5/8" wide piece would take a long time to use up my DSP!!! LOL  But at least I would be using up some of it, right?

Thank you SO much for stopping by today,
Wanda
