Dandelion Wishes, Itty Bitty Greetings, Sympathy Card, Masking Technique

This has to be one of the easiest masking technique cards I've ever made.  I found a card on Pinterest that I thought I would try my hand at. It was the colors that drew me to the card.  You have to scroll down a bit to see the original card. There was no direct link to just that one card.

I took a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock and set it on my grid paper so I could mask it off easier.  The fold is at the top and I lined it up on the 5" mark of my grid paper.  I masked off the top inch using post it notes. I just lined them up next to each other and made sure there was no gap.  And at the bottom I masked up 1-1/4".  I wasn't going to make it even.  And when things aren't even you usually make up that wider space at the bottom of the piece.

I took my dauber sponge and sponged in the Bermuda Bay ink.  I  began sponging on the post it paper near the Whisper White piece and then worked my way over to it.  Doing that makes it easier not to get a lot of ink in one spot when you re-ink your dauber.

After I got the color the way I thought I would like it, I almost removed the post it notes.  Don't do that!  I inked up the dandelions image from the "Dandelion Wishes" set.  I stamped them using Bermuda Bay ink.  I stamped on the left first and then inked it up again and stamped on the right.  I also stamped in the center but I didn't ink it up again for that one.

And for the darkest one, I used the single Dandelion image that has the seeds blowing and I stamped it using Shaded Spruce ink.

The words are from the "Itty Bitty Greetings" set and I stamped them using black Memento ink. Now I was ready to remove the post it notes.  And the card was finished.  I LOVE the crisp lines the post it notes left when sponging.  If I were to do this again, I would move the first set of dandelions on the left over a little bit more and move the Shaded Spruce ones more towards the center so they show up better.  Or maybe stamp off on the Bermuda Bay ones and  then stamp the Shaded Spruce ones (but still move them over just a little bit).

This was a fun card and I can see myself making more in the future.

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
