Dandelion Wishes, Better Together, Sympathy Card, 2018-2019 Stampin' Up! Catalog

Today's card was a very quick card to make.  If you like sponging then you are in for a fun time!! I found this card on Pinterest and changed it a little.  I just thought it was a lovely card.  To me it looked like a sympathy card so that is the direction I took the card.

The base of this card is a folded half-sheet of Whisper White card stock.  It was cut on the 8-1/2" side at 4-1/4".  This card opens from the bottom.

I took a piece of copier paper and masked off the top part about 1/2" from the top and sponged area is about 1-5/8".  I used removable tape to hold my copier paper down. You could use painter's tape or some Washi tape but I've had problems with both of them ripping my paper, so I just use removable tape runner and play it safe.

I sponged on Pool Party. I covered the whole area.  Then I came in with some Bermuda Bay. I added my colors using  a circular motion.

I stamped the dandelion from the "Dandelion Wishes" set using black Memento ink.  The words are from the "Better Together" set. I also stamped them using black Memento ink.  And that was it.

For as simple as this card is, it has a look of elegance and serenity to it.  That is why I thought it would make a great sympathy card.  I hadn't sponged on a card in a while and I rather enjoyed it.  You must remember when sponging that when you remove the masks the area sponged will be darker than it looked while you were sponging. I don't know why that is but I often think I have the color just right and when I remove my masks it's a whole lot darker than I wanted.  Like today's card. A little lighter would be nicer but I still like how it turned out.

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
