Cookie Cutter Halloween Pivot Twist Pop-up Card Technique

I LOVE making these Pivot Twist Pop-up cards.  I saw a couple on Pinterest and I just had to see what it was all about. I tried one with copier paper so I wouldn't ruin any good card stock.  There's a lot of tutorials out there on this that require cutting after you've scored and folded the "mechanism". Then I found one that you don't need to cut anything other than the actual pieces.  I LIKED that idea SO much better, so I thought I would give it a try.  I liked it a whole lot more.

A stamper named Glenda has the best YouTube tutorial on how to do this technique.  She also has a PDF printout but she has the measurements for the base of the card as 12" x 4" where it should read 11" x 4-1/4".  All of the other pieces on the printout are correct.

The trickiest part of this is getting that "mechanism to fold right.  I found that if you hold the short ends, one in each hand, between your thumb and middle finger and slowly pinch inward and you are drawing the scores on each end to meet.  Once you see the video you will understand what I mean.

The front of the card is from a card I found on Pinterest.  I thought it was such a cute Halloween card front and once I saw it I thought it would be great for the front of the Pivot Twist Pop-up card and it was.  Though I get a little lost on how to decorate the inside, there's an awful lot of spaces to decorate!  But I managed and I liked how it turned out.

Like I said, it was very fun making this and I plan on making more in the near future!  Just too darn cute, clever, and fun!!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda

  1. Morning Wanda! Are they really as easy as it looks? Do you think I could hold a class on these cards?
    Love you!

  2. Yes, it is very easy. If you use the one where you don't have to cut any pieces off the mechanism piece. That pattern is harder to follow.
