Papillon Potpourri Butterfly Birthday Card

I saw a layout like this on Pinterest and I just had to try it with Stampin' Up! products.  I did change it a bit from the original card.  The original card can be viewed here.  I added my words to the bottom of the card and I layered behind the panels of decorative paper instead of using the distressing tool.  I am not a huge fan of distressed edges.

To make this card I started with a half sheet of Whisper White card stock and I folded it in half on the long side.  Then I cut a piece of Whisper White 4" x 5-1/4" and I rounded all the corners on it.

Next I cut the strip pieces from decorative paper.  I used the "Print Poetry" stack.  I cut each piece 1-1/4".  The long piece is cut 3", the dotted piece is cut 1-1/2" and the top piece is cut 1-1/4".  The layers are cut 1/8" larger.  They are all 1-3/8" wide by 3-1/8", 1-3/8", and 1-5/8".  I rounded all edges on the long piece. and only 3 edges on the other two pieces.  I did mess mine up when I was doing the corners.  I didn't pay attention to the layout and I had to recut my top piece.  So pay attention as you are rounding your corners.  Once the layers are put together they were set in place using Dimensionals.  I set them in place and then stamped the words, which came from the "Curly Cute" set.

Then I stamped the butterfly and punched it out.  I did glue the butterfly in place.  I didn't think I could get enough tape on that small area and I didn't want a Dimensional to show so I just glued it.  Then I added 4 tiny pearls.  That piece was set in place on the card base using Dimensionals.

This was a pretty quick card to do and I really do like this layout!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
