A Taller Milk Carton

I do like the milk carton die cut but at times I wished it was a bit taller. Well, I solved that problem today. I cut it in the center and trimmed the edges to the size I wanted them and added a piece of acetate in the center. SO simple and a perfect way to solve the problem.

I took the Stampin' Up! "Sending Love" specialty decorative paper and cut it 6" wide and long enough to fit in on the "Milk Carton" die cut. I ran it through the Sizzix machine and cut it out. I cut the center out at about 1/4" from the top score and 1/2" from the bottom score. You need this part left on the carton so you can tape it to the acetate.

I ran a piece of acetate through the Sizzix using the "Milk Carton" die cut. I cut off the top and bottom part of the carton and kept the center. I folded it on the score lines and taped it. Now I should have added the tape to the bottom first and then taped the side seam. I added the tape to it after and I found it more difficult to put it on. It's much easier when it's flat.

I put the top and then the bottom part of the milk carton together and then inserted the acetate in the bottom. I laid it on it's side and pressed the tape into the paper so it stuck well.

I decorated a few fun size KitKat bars and put them on the inside of the carton. I made something like a belly band around the KitKat bars. I used the decorative paper I had cut off from the center of the carton. Nothing goes to waste around here!

I stamped the tiny heart from the "I (Heart) Hearts" set and punched it out with the new small heart punch. Yup, I finally broke down and ordered it! It sure beats cutting the hearts out by hand.

Then I taped the top part of the carton onto the acetate. I added a heart to the upper part of the carton and a red grosgrain ribbon around the carton. In the photo the ribbon is up a bit higher than I wanted it. I moved it there so you could see the KitKat bar belly band "thing." Click on the photo for a closer view.

I really did like making these and would do it again. Especially when I need a taller carton! I am having a LOT of fun with this die cut! This is another fun item that would be great for a teacher gift and something the kiddies can help with!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
