Halloween Candy in Disguise!!!

I hope you all have been enjoying Halloween Week. Though as of today the "week" is over I'm not done creating. And today I came to a conclusion. It is now official, I have totally lost it and this item proves it!!! LOL Maybe I shouldn't post this, DH could use it against me in a sanity trial!!! LOL

I was using my Tab punch and as I was looking at all the scraps I was tossing I thought that the center part of the scrap looked like the nose part on one of those party eye masks. SOOOO, I was wondering what I could to do make it look more like a mask.

I looked through my punches and found the Key Tag punch would work for the top part of the mask. I tried it out and it did indeed work. Only clinching the fact that I have totally lost it!!! had it not worked I would be showing you some other thing that had been bouncing around in my mind!!!! There's always something going on up there!!! LOL

I punched the piece out and realized that the hair binder things would be too wide for the mask. Hmmm, what to do. I was going to use black hemp. I knew that would work but then I thought, "not everyone has black hemp on hand" so I wanted to figure out another way to attach it.

I took a scrap of black card stock and cut little pieces off on the paper cutter. I gently pulled it through my thumb nail and first finger to soften it up just a bit and give it a bit of a curl. I had made holes on either side of the mask and then inserted one of the black strips. I tied a knot near one end. Not too close because I was afraid if I pulled too hard it would rip and it did. I tried this several times until I learned how much pull the paper would take. Once I got the knot on I drew it closer to the mask and trimmed it. I repeated the process for the other side, including ripping it!!! LOL

Now there are two ways of attaching this to the back of the candy. You can tie a knot. I found it a bit difficult but it can be done. Or you can use double stick tape and tape it in place. To get the rest of the tape from being sticky on the back you can use corn starch. Don't use baby powder, you are working with something that is consumable. Not that I would eat mine, it's just TOO darn cute!!! These would be fun at your next Halloween party so you'd better get started on them now!!! These would be great at Craft Fairs too!! And what customer wouldn't LOVE one of these treats??

Thank you SO much for stopping by and indulging me!!!

  6. Talk about attention to detail; this takes the cake!!! Love it! I am a little confused about the punch that you used, though. Is it SU? Would you take a picture of the punch and publish it so everyone [especially me...LOL] can see which one it is? Thanks....
