What You "See" is Not Always What You Get!!! Challenge/Candy?

I had this card in mind. I wanted to make a very simple wedding card. I wanted to use the Cuddlebug folder. I wanted to use "something" in a 1/4" circle. I wanted to layer it with a larger circle. And I wanted it in black and white.

It's obviously in black and white. I did use the Cuddlebug folder. I did use the 1/4" circles layered and there is "something" in the circle. But this "something" isn't doing it for me. SO it looks like I'll be working on a few more wedding cards this week!!!

Any suggestions??? If I have the images and I use your suggestion I will not only post it here giving you credit but I will send you 4 with envelopes for you to use when you need a wedding card!!!

Thank you SO much for stopping by and I look forward to your suggestions!!
Wanda

  1. Wanda-can you set your blog to full feed? I save cards in my Reader to share that are called cream of the crop but if no photo shows, people won't look. Some blogs don't even have titles for each post anymore. Frustrating when you have over 800 feeds in Reader.

  2. I forgot to add----a blossom or bunch of flowers but shimmer it up either with h2o's or glitter pen like Spica from copic as its real glass.

a recent wedding I attended-both were spiderman fans-so I gave them a card with spidey and his bride and a spiderman gift card to Target. I wanted to get jammies for them but what newleyweds wear jammies anyways?

  3. A couple of suggestions - what about stamping one of SU's background stamps (Riot of Petals, Floral, Paisley or the new set - Fresh Cuts) in black on white .... or with white craft on black cs & emboss in white and punch out just a portion with circle punch.

  4. I like the champagne in the glass -- just tonight on another blog, someone colored gold rings with a yellow marker, then went over the yellow with Stardust Clear. Made it very shimmery! Might be worth a try! Jeanne

    Hi Wanda,
I don't have much of a suggestion, but maybe it would be what you are looking for: Could you touch the cuddle bug design very lightly with a dabber with very little black ink on it, just on the high tips - and use a little wider ribbon? You will figure something out, you always do; that is why I love to visit your blog.

  6. Don't you hate when your card is one step from being your own version of perfect and you can't figure out how to fix it?! LOL! Thank goodness for the internet to help us! LOL! Here's my suggestion - How about some rhinestones?! I would put either 3 or 5 of them in the "9:00 to 12:00" position or the "7:00 to 12:00" position. Maybe just a little bit of glitter in the cup!

What about the heads of the couple in To Have and To Hold? Or a stamp similar to that one?

I love your design, CB'd background and layout, but I'd change the ribbon - I'd use a wider(sheer or satin)ribbon and tie it in a big bow and hang a couple of faux wedding rings from it (the kind found in the wedding aisle of craft stores). For the circle image, I might stamp a Mr&Mrs with a larger ampersand stamped in soft gray, and the Mr/Mrs stamped in black with smaller fonts.... OR if you know the married couples name, a fancy monogrammed initial would really make it a special card for the couple!

  9. I think I would just remove the circle piece and leave it. I love the cuttlebugged part and the ribbon is just the finishing touch. Simple and elegant.

  10. I'm thinking it needs some dazzling diamonds. Cover the whole circle with them? It would tone down the starkness of that element and add some shimmer.

  11. I really like this card! I agree with annoymous...wider ribbon and perhaps run some silver or black ink of the cuttlebug part. Another option would be to make the circle part a tag that dangles on the ribbon...maybe even orient the card horizontal? I really appreciate you sharing ALL your work...I love your creations but I learn even more when you post these 'challenge' cards. Thanks!

  12. I made a wedding card very similar to yours. Here's what I did different. I brushed Brilliance Platinum Planet lightly across the embossed part (I even used the same folder as you). It gives it a real shimmer. I put my ribbon horizontal instead of vertical. For the bottom corner, I stamped Mr. & Mrs. and punched out with an oval (sponged edges). I layered it with the Designer Label then the 1 3/8 circle behind the circle in the label. I pop-dotted that on the bottom corner. I did add one sworovski crystal on either side of the Mr. & Mrs. on the oval punch. I would also use a wider ribbon. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

  13. I love your card however, since you are looking for different ideas how about a Monogram in the circle? I think a wide ribbon would look elegant also.

I don't know if you aren't happy with the whole card or the circle or....? If it's the stamp in the circle, have you tried the bride and groom in the 'Voila' to Go'or just the heads of the bride and groom from the set you have. Also, do you have any of the silver and/or gold cord left - that might 'wake up' the black ribbon - try wrapping the silver or gold cold a couple of times and then tie some black ribbon in the knot. Personally, I like your card now! (crystalshope@yahoo.com)

One more suggestion: Use a black piece of cardstock (cuttlebugged)on the bottom of the card, then have about 2/3 of the white cardstock (cuttlebugged) on the top part. I would still use a wider ribbon, as I suggested earlier...... can't wait to see your card, with all of these suggestions!

  17. How about a pair of gold or silver rings. I found a bag with about 12 pairs at Michael's for a couple of dollars.

  18. What about the flower from the same set? If you colored it red it would add a nice pop. I really like those glasses though. Someone else mentioned dazzling diamonds. What would it look like if you left the color out, but put a little layer of dazzling diamonds on the top of the champagne? Maybe even some on the bubbles? Anything from the Tagger's Dozen set? Or the Always set?
    OK, I'll stop now. :-)
Can't wait to see what you come up with!

  19. Do you have the she's all that stamp set? I love the girl in wedding dress!

  20. I would use a satin ribbon and put it horizontally on the upper third of the card instead of vertically with a black and white tag with a wedding sentiment of some sort. And since I love my stickles I would put that on the yellow to make it look bubbly ( or something glittery). Just an idea.
