A Morning Meadow, Off the Grid, and Flower Shop Birthday

These stamps are soon to be retired.  The Off the Grid, which I just love, the Field Flowers, and Morning Meadow.  Fortunately the Flower Shop set and punch will still be available.  I love stamps that have matching punches.

There is SO much wrong with this card as I am looking at it on here.  I don't know why the words aren't sticking well, unless I was in such a hurry to affix them that I didn't press down after lining it up!!!  Sounds like something I would do (and it's an easy fix).  Oh and were did those pearls go that I was going to put in the center of each flower?    I knew I had taken them off the backing and set them somewhere.  And I did find them.  Stuck to my sleeve!!!  Nice!  Okay, with all the mess out of the way, lets talk positive about this card for a minute!

The base of my card is a half sheet of Whisper White.  I cut a piece of Whisper White 4" x 5-1/4" and I stamped the Off the Grid image using Crumb Cake ink.  Then I stamped the flower stem from Field Flowers using Wild Wasabi ink.  The flowers were from the Morning Meadow set.  That was a fun and cute set to play with.  The words are from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I can't find my retired sheet so I'm not sure if it's retiring or not, but I don't think it is.  I hope not, I use it a lot!!!

The flowers were stamped using Crisp Cantaloupe and punched out.  They were set in place using Dimensionals and so were the words, along with the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of card stock that is stamped on. This card has a lot of dimension.  Maybe that is why I liked it so much when I saw it on the web.  I replaced the flowers with the Morning Meadow flower.  I really didn't want to do all of that fussy cutting that was on the original card.  You can see that card here at Scrapped Lives.  There's some fun things on that website!

This was a very fun card to make and it's even prettier with the half pearls in the center of the flowers and not on my sleeve!!! LOL

A Simply Sketched Birthday

The Simply Sketched set is soon to retire. It was a very fun and easy Hostess set to play with.  I especially loved this flower.  I had made a stencil of the flower and the bud and kept it with the stamp set.  I would line it up and sponge on the color.  So quick and simple.  I am really hoping that another set will come out that will be just as easy to work with when you need a quick card!

The base of my card is Strawberry Slush.  I did color in the stems of the flower with Pistachio Pudding.  It looks like I stuck with the in colors here!

The words are from the Wetlands set.  I set the words and the flower in place using Dimensionals.  

The background was done using the Dotted embossing folder and that was it.  

See, I told you it was a quick and easy card to make!!!

Too Kind

While on Pinterest (as usual) I found a fun card to make.  It didn't take a lot of time either!  I am loving cards like that lately!!!  This card was made by Loll at Stamping with Loll.  

I used Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight for my yellows.  The decorative paper came from the large paper tablet pack.  The words were done on my computer and punched out.  

To make this card you just need a small piece of the decorative paper.  Mine measured 1-1/4" x 4-1/4".  I taped it to the edge of the white card stock which measured 2-3/4" x 4-3/4".  Once the decorative paper was added to the stamped piece I put Dimensionals on the back and set it in place on the card stock base.  Then the words were done and Dimensionals were added to them as well.  And that was it.  SO simple and ever SO quick!

A Flower Shop Birthday

Here is a fun and easy card I found made by Susan at Stamping Art.  I am not a big fan of paper piercing, mostly because it takes a while to do it nicely!!!  Key word here being "nicely!"  Things like that I prefer to get them over quickly!!!  I was going to omit them but it did add a nice touch to the card.  

I did change the wording but I put it in the same place.  And it looks like my foreground card stock is cut too large.  The decorative paper doesn't show much.  But you get a hint of it and it is still pretty!

The butterfly is from the Papillon Potpouri butterfly stamp set.  A set I love mostly because it has matching punches!!!  You know me and those matching punches!!!  The flower is from the Flower Shop set and the large flower punch was used on the Whisper White card stock to create that "window" for the Flower Shop flower to sit in.  

The color used here is Strawberry Slush.  It's such a bright and pretty color. It creates such a happy feeling for me.

A Petite Petals Birthday

Here's a very fun and quick card to make.  Personally I think any stamp that has a matching punch will make it quick for me to make cards!!!

Today I used decorative paper from the Fresh Prints paper pack.  I have not used that pack as much as I thought I would. The layer behind it is Crumb Cake and the base of the card is Whisper White.  

I used Coastal Cabana card stock behind the focal layer.  The ink used here is also Coastal Cabana.  I stamped the flowers from the Petite Petals set and I punched them out.  I LOVE that part.  One punch and boom, the flower is all cut out!  And I used some Coastal Cabana stretch ruffle trim.  I have not used that much at all either.  UGH!  I am going to have to cut down on my shopping so I get more use out of the stuff I get.  

And the words are from the Wetlands set.  I added pearls to the center of each flower.  A fun and quick card to do!  Plus I LOVE this layout!

Springtime Hello

I had bought the Springtime Hello set but only used the bumble bee in it.  So today I thought I would whip up a birthday card using the pretty flower image in it.  

I colored the flower in using markers and I huffed on it before I stamped it.  

The colors I used here are Strawberry Slush and Pistachio Pudding card stock and markers. Plus I used the Daffodil Delight marker in the center of the flowers.  

The words are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.  

The top two layers are set in place using Dimensionals.

Punching the hole with the layer is a bit tricky but once you figure out how to do it, it's rather easy.  I add a little mark of tape on the card stock where I think the hole is going to be punched at.  It's ok if you don't get it exact.  You mostly want the card stock and the decorative paper to stay together so you can punch them.  Line them up as you would for a layer.  Then take the smaller punch (here I used the 1-1/4" circle punch) and punch out both pieces at once.  Next take the decorative paper and the 1-3/8" circle punch and punch out a little ring.  Try to center it.  But before you punch place a piece of copier paper behind it or it won't punch nice.  Once it's punched tape it in place on top of the card stock.  It's easy to do but you do need to practice with it a little before venturing into the good papers and card stock!

Mother's Day Gift

I don't know why I have so much trouble with the orientation of these photos on here!  UGH!  So you have to look at it this way, sorry.

This is the necklace I made for my daughter-in-law.  Our granddaughter Paige was born before Mother's Day last year so this is our daughter-in-law's first Mother's Day.  

I took a copper disk and hammered the edges a bit and then stamped the words:  "your first breath took mine away".  I had gotten the letter "P" for Paige at Hobby Lobby.  Then the fun part and my most favorite part!  I had taken a profile photo of Paige and shrunk it down to about the size of a quarter and I printed it out.  I had to make sure I had a picture of her that had a very light background so I could get a good outline of her head.  Then I cut her little head out of the copier paper.  I had purchased some PMC 3 silver (Precious Metal Clay) and I rolled a bit out thinly onto my work surface.  I set the paper head on top and traced around it with a thin needle.  I poked a hole in the top for the jump ring to go in and I let it dry for a couple of hour.  Then I sanded it very smooth. The more sanding you do at this point, the less you do later!!!  Something very important to always remember!  Once I got it smooth on the flat sides and all edges it was ready to "fire".  

I set the head on a fireproof kiln brick and got my micro torch out and began the firing process.  Once it was done and cool I sanded it quite a bit.  I had some marks on it from the binders being burnt off. And when the sanding was done I used silver polish and I polished it up.  Once the PMC silver clay is fired it is .999 find sterling silver.  How cool is that?  I polished the head to a mirrored shine.  It turned out a lot prettier than it looks in the photo.  It's a beautiful piece of silver and it's got a special meaning to it because it's the profile of my granddaughter!  So this is what I gave to my daughter-in-law for Mother's Day!

By the Tide Father's Day Card

Well, now it's time to move into making some Father's Day cards.  I have no one to give these to anymore so I don't make many of them.  But I do like to have some on hand as samples for the gals who come over to stamp.  

I found this card on Pinterest.  It's made by Deena at My Home Grown Art.  I thought it looked like a fun and yet simple card to make.  Plus it was using the By the Tide set and I have not played with that one enough!   I have seen lots of samples using this set and have pinned them but that is as far as it gets.  I think that's as far as it gets with most of my pins on Pinterest.  I think I'm addicted to pinning!!!!  LOL

For my card I used Smoky Slate for the base.  I added a layer of Pacific Point and then the Whisper White. My inks are also Smoky Slate for the fern (stamped off once) and Pacific Point for the shell and words.  The words are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.  I used Baker's Twine to wrap around the card.  I didn't tie a bow.  I just taped the ends to the back.   And then I tore the paper.  I have not torn my paper in a while.  I don't make a lot of cards that I find I can tear the paper and have it look like it was meant to be!!!  So it was kind of fun to tear the paper!!!

This was a very fun card to make and extremely simple too!  An easy layout with minimal color but yet effective.  A perfect Father's Day card!

Flower Shop Mother's Day Card

I found a pretty thank you card on Becky's at Scrappin' and Stampin' in GJ on her April 14th post. (Sorry, I do not know what GJ means, I looked on the blog but I didn't see it spelled out anywhere).

I am still in the Mother's Day card mode.  And did you notice today that I actually got the whole card in the photo?? LOL  

For my card I used Whisper White as the base of the card.  Strawberry Slush was the color of choice here.  I stamped the flower on the ink pad, stamped on the card and then stamped on it once more. I repeated this a couple more times and then I filled in any open spaces with the stamp without reinking it.  

The flower was stamped, punched out and then set in place using Dimensionals.  A large pearl was added to the center. 

The words are from the My Mother set and stamped using black StazOn.

This card went together so quickly.  I think this would not only make a great thank you card like Becky made but it would be a wonderful get well and birthday card too!

By the Tide Father's Day Card

Oh my, am I ever horrible at taking photos!  I got the majority of the card in.  I need some practice!!!  

Ok, lets move on to this fun Father's Day card.  I found this card made by Nancy at Canopy Crafts. I did change it a lot.  What attracted me about her card was the circle and how the fish were in placement behind and in front of the circle.  I also liked the Off the Grid image along with the Gorgeous Grunge dots.  

Nancy's card is very fun and pleasing to the eye.  I would liked to have copied it but I didn't have the background paper she used so I went with what I had and that resulted in me changing the colors.  I like both cards.  They are unique in their own way.  

I am happy with the colors here and how the card turned out.  I do not like cutting out things by hand (the fish here) so I can say that I don't see myself making too many cards like this in the near future!!! Give me a stamp set with a matching punch and I'm extremely happy!!!

The words on my card are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.  I used Gumball Green for the fish and the label.  Whisper White card stock for the focal piece and the base of the card is Smoky Slate.  I used Early Espresso to stamp the fish.  The decorative paper is from the Watercolor Wonder decorative paper pack.  For the dots I used Pacific Point and I did stamp off once.  The circle measures 2".  And finally, Off the Grid was stamped using Smoky Slate.  The card really wasn't that difficult to do but like I said, I don't like cutting out things by hand.

A Wetlands Birthday Card

When I think of the Wetlands set I think of a masculine card.  Well, this one isn't very masculine, is it?  I could hardly make a masculine card using the Gingham Garden Decorative paper.  I had a scrap of it sitting on my worktable and I thought I would use it to whip up a quick card.  And let me tell you.  If you need a quick card, this is the way to go.  From start to finish I had a card in under 10 minutes.

I started out with a half sheet of Whisper White and folded it in half.  Then I took a piece of Melon Mambo and cut it to 4" x 5-1/4".  Then I took a piece of Whisper White and cut it to 3-7/8" x 5-1/8".  Next I used the Dotted embossing folder and made the dots on the card stock.  I usually do it first and then cut the card stock but I had already cut it and then realized it would look better embossed.  It worked out fine, it didn't shrink at all after being embossed.  That sometimes happens with the card stock.

Then I took my scrap piece of decorative paper and cut it to 1-3/4" x 4-1/4".  And I layered a piece of Melon Mambo behind it, adding 1/8" to two sides.  

I used the words from the Wetlands set and stamped them using black StazOn. I punched them out using the large oval punch and I punched out a piece of Melon Mambo using the Scalloped oval punch.  I put the decorative paper panel on using Dimensionals and I used one Dimensional on the right side of the oval and some double sided tape on the other side and set it in place on the card.  And ta dah, it was done!  I told you it was quick and it's easy too!  So if you need a card in a hurry you can whip one up in no time using this layout!  Don't throw those scraps away!!! They do come in handy!

Petite Flowers Mother's Day Card

I found this fun Petite Petals card made by Mel on Split Coast Stampers.  I did change it a little.  I added the Dotted embossed background and the words along with the Modern Label punch are different.  

I used Cherry Cobbler ink and card stock.  I used a 1" punch to do the squares where the flowers are.  To get those squares where they needed to be I had first punched out the center one.  Then I took the square piece and traced it next to the center square to make sure it was where I wanted it to be.  Then I did the same with the other side so they were even.  Next I put the piece with the three punched squares on top of the Cherry Cobbler piece.  I taped the punched out squares into place and then removed the front piece.  I had not embossed it yet.  You want to wait to do that because you don't want that background where the flowers go to be dotted.  

I stamped and punched the flowers and set them in place using Dimensionals.  The Dotted piece is also set in place using Dimensionals.  I punched out the label piece using the card stock that is behind the dotted piece.  I didn't want to get out a new piece of Cherry Cobbler just for the label.  And no one can see it, it's behind the Dotted white piece.  

The words are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set and they were set in place using Dimensionals too.  Lot of Dimensionals are used on this card!!  Oh, I almost forgot about the flowers.  They are stamped using Cherry Cobbler ink and punched out.  After they were set in place using Dimensionals, I added a pearl to the center of each one.  

A very simple card to make.  And I LOVE red and white cards!!!

A Petite Petals Birthday

I have not used the Hardwood background stamp much so today I thought I would play with it and see what I could come up with.  Those little flowers from the Petite Petals set remind me of forget-me-nots.  I thought it would be fun to do the flowers in blue.  And of course blues and browns go together well, so I ran with that too!  

Because the flowers were punched out, this card went together rather quickly.  I just kept adding flowers until I ran out of the ones I stamped and punched. I thought I might have some left but I didn't.  Actually the card looks like it could use a few more on that left side.  But it is what it is!  

The words on my card came from the Wetlands set and I stamped them using the Early Espresso ink pad.  This was a fun card to make and I can see myself making more like this mostly because it was quick and easy to do!

A Flower Shop and Petite Petals Mother's Day Card

I found a very pretty card at Laurie's "Stamping Up North" blog.  Her card was done using a feather image.  I thought it was pretty but what I really loved about the card was the colors.  So taking those colors I thought I would make a pretty card like hers.  

The colors here are Marina Mist, Baja Breeze and Baked Brown Sugar.  And the words are from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set.  

The technique here is called "Embossed Resist."  It's where you use white or clear embossing powder and then you sponge ink over the top of it.  The embossed image emerges from the white card stock and you can then see it.  

There is also another technique used here, Masking.  The masking part here is the top and bottom part of the card.  I taped down a piece of copier paper on each end and then I did my embossing and after that I left it on to do my sponging.  I did use removable tape to do this.  That is simple masking.  There are other cards and projects that involve more complex masking where you cut out the image and tape the mask over it and sponge.  You can find lots of masking samples on the internet.

This was a fun and very quick card to make.  I tend to not heat emboss much because it means I have to get off my chair and go across the room to do that!!!  So lazy some days!!! LOL
