The Right Words, Brushed With Beauty, Sympathy Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I'm trying to get back into the swing of my everyday life. I find it a bit difficult to do after the holidays. I often pre-post my cards so I have the holidays off. Then when it's over I head to my workroom and I feel a bit lost.  I don't feel so much lost this time as I do overwhelmed at the mess I left my worktable in!  I guess some major cleaning up is in store for the week. It will take me that long to clean it up because, well there's another holiday in there with entertaining friends and when I clean in my workroom I tend to watch/play a movie on either Pluto tv or Tubi and when there's a commercial I get up and clean up something.  It's amazing how much stuff you can get done during a commercial! They're not just for getting snacks and bathroom breaks anymore!  LOL. I will let you know how my workroom looks at the end of the week! Wish me luck!  So onto today's card, I have a sympathy card to share with you.  Please read on to see how it was made. 

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Very Vanilla card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4-3/4" x 3-3/8" piece of Mossy Meadow for the back layer. 

On top of that layer on the left I taped a 1" x 4" strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Brushed With Beauty" 12" x 12" package. On the upper right I cut a 1-3/4" x 2" piece from the same package of DSP.  And on the bottom right I cut a 1-1/2" x 2" piece of the same DSP.

I taped this piece to the card base.

The word piece measures 1-3/8" x 2-3/4" and was cut from a scrap piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I stamped the words from "The Right Words" set using Mossy Meadow ink. This set is probably going to be retiring because it's made with the red rubber and Stampin' Up! is going to be going to all clear vinyl in the new year.  Anyway, once the words were stamped I cut a 1-5/8" x 2-7/8" piece of Mossy Meadow card stock and taped the two pieces together.  Please note that the right edge of the word piece lines up with the right edge of the layer. It's not centered on the Mossy Meadow layer.  Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place over the opening that is created between the upper and lower pieces of DSP. You don't have to be perfect in setting this piece on. You just need to make sure it covered both side layers of the DSP.  

I added a brass butterfly to give it a little bling. I didn't want a lot of bling but just enough to keep the card looking simple.  And that was it.

This layout is a perfect way to use up those scraps in your packages of DSP! What I like best about this card is that it has a large back piece that creates the illusion of having lots of layers.  How fun is that?
