Darling Dinos, Children's Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a children's birthday card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

The Designer Series Paper I used for this card is from the "Unbounded Beauty" 12" x 12" package. I cut the back layer at 4" x 5-1/4" and I taped it to the card base.

The next layer (the Peach Pie colored one) was cut at 3-1/2" x 4-3/4".  I didn't tape that to the front of the card yet.

Three strips measuring 1" x 2-1/2" and one piece measuring 2" x 3-1/4" were cut. Those pieces were set in place on top of the peach colored layer.

Next I stamped the words from the "Darling Dinos" bundle using black Memento ink. I decided to just stamp right on top of the DSP.  I thought about stamping them on Basic White card stock but there wouldn't be much of a border around it showing the green. So stamping directly to the DSP was the better option. Though the hexagon piece could have been moved up to make up for that space.

Now at this point I could wrap some ribbon around the piece and add a bow when I'm done but I opted to not do the ribbon because it wouldn't show due to the hexagon piece.

The hexagon piece was punched out of Basic White card stock using the "Heartfelt Hexagon" punch. I used Pretty in Pink ink on a Blending Brush and scrubbed on some ink to soften the piece.  The plain white was just too bright. I taped it to the front of the card. I pretty much centered the hexagon over the dividing like between the strips and larger bottom piece of DSP.

Then the cute dino was stamped using black Memento ink on Basic White card stock. I did not buy the in color Blends Pens so I used my Blending Pen and ink pads to color it in. I used Shy Shamrock for the body. Pretty in Pink for the toe nails, dots and crown behind the head. Peach Pie and Pretty in Pink with a little Boho Blue over some of the pink areas to give it a soft purple look.  Dimensionals were added behind the dino and I set it in place on the hexagon.

I tied a bow and glued it to the left side. This hid the space where the gap is between the strips and bottom piece of DSP.

This was a fun and easy card to make. I'm going to miss this set. It is retired but I am still playing with it till the new stuff comes.  And like I did the other day, I made a template using copier paper so I could repeat this layout with ease. I also put the date of my post on it so I can look back to see color placement or any changes I made.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's children's birthday card,

Beautiful Butterflies, Simply Said, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you that allows you to use up some of those pieces of scrap Designer Series Paper (DSP). Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

My piece of DSP is from the "Bloom Impressions" 12" x 12" package. This was a free Sale-a-Brations item. This piece was sitting on my worktable just waiting to be used. It measured 1-7/8" wide and I trimmed it to 5-1/4" long. Now here's the beauty of this card. You can take your scrap piece and make it work. If your piece is narrower or wider you can make it work. Just cut it to 5-1/4" long. The textured piece will make up the difference.

The textured piece here was made using the embossing folder from the "Beautiful Butterflies" bundle and a piece of Basic White card stock. I cut it 2" wide by 5-1/4" long. I taped the DSP to the left and I glued the textured piece to the right.

I also had this circle on my worktable so I thought I'd try to make it work too. It's from the "Stylish Shapes" set. I had used the second largest die when I had cut it. I stamped the "birthday wishes" from the "Simply Said" set using black Memento ink. I stamped it on the lower part of the circle so I could add a butterfly to the upper part.

The butterflies were cut using the same "Beautiful Butterflies" bundle using Basic White card stock. These little butterflies have a cute little body too. I glued the body on the two butterflies I cut.  Oh and the die set has two butterflies and two little bodies so you only had to run it through the machine once. Dimensionals were added to the back and they were set aside.

I set the circle in place using Dimensionals and then the butterflies were added. Two little pearls were added to the bodies and the card was done.

This was a fun, quick and easy card to make. You can use any DSP you have to create a card like this. So grab your scraps, grab your retired DSP and make some quick cards in no time.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Delightful Wishes, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a quick and easy birthday card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock. I also cut a piece of copier paper just a hair smaller than the 4" x 5-1/4".  I like to have something to tape pieces onto.

Both pieces of card stock were cut on the diagonal. I cut the Basic White piece from top left to bottom right and the Daffodil Delight piece was cut from top left to bottom right. I taped both of them to the piece of copier paper.

Then I cut a strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Floral Delight" 12" x 12" package. It measured 1-1/8" x 6-3/4".  I taped it across the center of the card where the two pieces of card stock meet. You don't have to be exactly centered, it's almost better if you're not. Once taped in place I took a scissors and trimmed the corners.

I fussy cut a flower from the same package of DSP. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the right side of the card.

The words are from the "Labeled with Love" bundle and were cut using the die in that bundle. I stamped them using Mossy Meadow ink. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the lower part of the card.

I opted not to add any embellishments as I didn't want to pay the extra postage to mail it. $.78 per card is bad enough!

This was a fun and quick card to make. I like this layout because you can use strips of DSP and make a ton of cards from one sheet.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Darling Dinos, Children's Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. This seems to be the longest time of stamping for me. It's the time from when the new catalog hits my worktable until I can order and get the new stuff! So what that means is I now have to play with what I have and with what is going to be retiring, even though I really like the set. The "Darling Dinos" is one of those sets I really like and yes, it's going to be retiring. So I thought I'd make a card with it today and share it with you. Please read on to see how it was made. Plus I have a tip on layouts to share with you.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Floral Delight" 12" x 12" package. I taped that to the card base.

Next I cut the strips. The DSP for the strips is from the "Timeless Plaid" 6" x 6" package. I cut three of them at 1/2" x 3-3/4". And the Basic White layer behind them was cut at 2/4" x 4".  I taped the pieces together and then I taped them to the front of the card. The edge of the right strip is about 7/8" from the side of the card. The spaces between the strips is 1/8".

Then I cut the circle using the 5th smallest die in the "Deckled Circles" set. I cut it from a piece of Basic White. Using my Blending Brush I scrubbed on some Daffodil Delight ink. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card about 1/2" from the right edge.

The dino was next. I stamped him using black Memento ink. I cut him out using the matching die. I colored him with my light Old Olive and light Daffodil Delight Blends pen. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the circle. I just placed it where I thought it looked best.

The words are from the same set and were stamped using black Memento ink. I cut the piece to measure 2" x 1". The Daffodil Delight layer was cut at 2-1/4" x 1-1/4".  I taped the layers together. I added Dimensionals to the back and set the piece in place on the front of the card. And the card was done.

I often make a copier paper template/sample of my cards so I can use the layout again at another time. I write down the measurements on the piece and I just recently started writing down the dates I  used the layout so I can go look at it for colors and contrast if needed. I have a stack of these on my worktable. I took my stack out today and I set the dino on top of areas on the samples until I found one that looked like it would best display the image. This one won today! It's fun having these layouts so I can see exactly what I'm getting and the size is exact. It makes it easy to put together a card with lots of layers too.  It's also versatile. The sample is portrait and my card today is landscape. I moved the word piece too.  So I'm not stuck with only one way to play with the layout.

This was a fun children's card to make and I thank you for taking your time to stop in and see it,

Playing in the Rain, Shower or Birthday or Congratulations Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that could be used for a shower, birthday or congratulations card. Does the image look familiar?  It's from last months calendar page. I thought I would work with it right away instead of letting it sit on my worktable waiting for me to use it or waiting to get ruined by something being set on top of it.  Please read on to see how I made this card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White card stock and textured it using the "Dotted Circles" embossing folder. I glued that to the card base.

Next I took my bunny image and trimmed it to 3-3/8" x 2-1/2". I taped it to a 3-5/8" x 2-3/4" piece of Old Olive card stock. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the lower part of the card about 1/2" from the left edge and the bottom edge.

The words are from the "Playing in the Rain" (retiring) set and was stamped using Old Olive ink. I cut them out using the second smallest die in the "Deckled Circles" set and the Old Olive layer behind it was cut using the 3rd smallest die in that same set. I taped the layers together. Dimensionals were added to the back over the areas that wouldn't be touching the bunny layer. I did add a dot of glue to the upper right corner of the bunny layer and then I set the circle in place. And that was it, the card was done.

That was a very quick and easy card to make, especially when most of it is already done!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's shower/birthday/congratulations card,

May Calendar Page, Layered Florals, Weekend Project, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. It's the first of the month so that means it's time for the May calendar page. I got the PDF file for these from Lynette's blog. You can get yours by clicking here. It will take you to her blog and just under the title of her blog is the file.

I decided to go with a flower since last month was April showers it's only fitting that May would have flowers.

I ran across a partially finished quarter sheet. I think the technique is called "Blackout". What you do is take an embossing folder and run it through your machine with Basic White card stock.  Then you turn it over so you have the texture on the bottom. You are going to color in the images with whatever you like to use. I used Blends pens here. Once done you will take your black ink pad and drag it over the backside and the ink will only go on the flat surface, leaving the colored surface to show through. It's a pretty easy technique and SO pretty.  I forgot to add that the embossing folder is called "Layered Florals".  It's retiring soon.

I trimmed mine so it was just 1/8" shorter than the area it was set on. I used Dimensionals to set mine in place because once the month is over I take that image and make a card with it. So in a couple of days or so I'll be making a card with that bunny I used for my April card.

I look forward to making these every month. But sometimes I struggle with what I'm going to put on the upper part. But I manage to come up with something!

Thank you SO much for taking your time to see this month's calendar page,
Wanda
