Penguin Place, Birthday Card, 2021 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

I have been having some fun playing with the new "Penguin Place" stamp set and punch. Here's what I came up with for today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. I cut a 4-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Penguin Playmates" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the front of the card base.

Next I took a piece of Basic White card stock and I cut the largest scalloped stitched die from the "Stitched So Sweetly" dies.

Then I took my Pool Party ink and the wavy line from the "Penguin Place" set and stamped the snow line on the rectangle piece. It doesn't really matter where you place the line, the penguin will sit on top of it and everything else just fits in.

I stamped the penguin using black Memento ink and I punched her out. Then I stamped her beak using Crushed Curry ink. I also stamped the feet on a scrap piece of Basic White using Crushed Curry ink. I punched the feet out and fussy cut the beak.

The bow was stamped using Fresh Freesia ink and was fussy cut. The balloon was stamped with Fresh Freesia too and was punched out using the smaller balloon in the retired balloon punch. I was glad I hadn't gotten rid of mine. It was by chance I grabbed it to see if it would work with this balloon and much to my delight, it did!

I set (not taped) the penguin on the front of the card so I could see where the tree, gift and words were going to go.

I inked up the tree with Shaded Spruce ink and I took my Blends pen and removed the ink from the trunk and colored it in using my Early Espresso marker. I stamped the tree on the snowline.

The gift was stamped using Crushed Curry in and was done near the tree. And the words were stamped using black Memento ink.

With the penguin still on the front of my rectangle piece, I could see where I needed to stamp the balloon string. That was done using black Memento ink. Then I taped the rectangle piece in place on the front of the card.

I put the penguin's feet on using small Dimensionals. I glued the bow right to the head and I added Dimensionals to the back of the penguin and the balloon.

I set the penguin in place making sure the arm is in front of the string image.

I added the balloon and the card was done.

This was a very fun, quick and easy card to make.  I think it's adorable.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop by and see this sweet penguin card,
Wanda
