Hearts Come Home, Hometown Greetings, Salted Card Technique

Today's card does not contain anything from the November 2018 Paper Pumpkin kit!!!  LOL

I found this fun card on the internet and thought I would work in a technique with it and this is what I came up with.

The base of the is a folded half-sheet of Crumb Cake card stock.  It was cut in half on the 8-1/2" side.  This card opens at the bottom

I added a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Balmy Blue card stock.

I cut a piece of Whisper White measuring 3-3/4" x 5" and I textured it with the "Softly Falling" embossing folder.  I embossed and then I cut but I ended up squishing some of the texture, so with this folder, it's better to cut first and then emboss.

I used my square and stitched square dies to make the framed part of this card.

The Crumb Cake layer measures about 2-7/8" x 2-7/8".  I cut the sky piece 2-5/8" x 2-5/8".  It's the same size as the Stitched frame. The inside of the square was cut out at 1-7/8" x 1-7/8".

I die cut the house and church images from the "Hometown Greetings" die cut set using Whisper White card stock.

The blue background was a fun technique.  I took a piece of glossy card stock and colored it with a mixture of water and Balmy Blue ink.  I sprinkled table salt on it and set it aside to dry.  You might want to do this before you begin making the card.  You could heat set the glossy card stock but I would recommend doing it on a low heat and doing it from the backside of the piece, you don't want the salt to blow off.

Once the background piece was dry I taped the bottom parts of the church piece and the house with tree piece to it.  You can pick and choose which images you like from the die cut pieces.  I wanted the snowman to be in it but it didn't work out that way.  But it's still cute the way it is. After taping them down I taped that square to the Crumb Cake square.  I added Dimensionals to the stitched square frame and set it in place on top of the house and church piece.  I set all this in place on the card front using tape and just a touch of glue on the center.

The words are from the "Hearts Come Home" set. I stamped them using Balmy Blue ink. I die cut them with the oval die and I set them in place using Dimensionals.  And that was it.

I LOVE the look of the salted technique. You never get the same image twice.  And on this card it looks like a wintry sky.  Well, I think it does anyway!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
