A Christmas Hang Your Stocking Thinlits Die Christmas Card

Here is a fun card I made using the new "Christmas Stockings"Thinlits dies.  I made this for Terri's Holiday Extravaganza event.

I was just playing around with some pieces and ideas and this is what I came up with.

I used the new Emerald Envy card stock for the base of the card. Then I used a piece of Whisper White that was cut 4-5/8" x 3-1/2".

I cut the Real Red glitter paper 3" x 4-1/8".

I cut the Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper 2-7/8" x 4".

I used the "Layering Circles" Framelits Dies for the circles. I used two smallest ones.  To cut the circles so they are centered, I used a post it notes to "tape" the two pieces together so they wouldn't shift when going through the Big Shot.  The red piece didn't cut all the way through. I didn't expect it to, this card stock is VERY thick. But it did leave a mark so I was able to set the die back in place and run it though the Big Shot without the Dazzling Diamonds piece.  Then I took the next larger circle and lined it up on the Dazzling Diamonds piece and used post it notes to hold it in place.  I ran it through the Big Shot and then I glued the two layers together.  I don't have much luck with tape and the glitter paper.  It seems to be sticking and in a day or two it's shifted or come off, so now I just glue.

I also glued the words and holly with berries on.

I stamped the tree using Emerald Envy ink.  Then I took the little pieces that were from the stocking with the snowflake in the center and I cut them to fit the tree. The tree needed something and the rhinestone on top that I colored with a yellow Sharpie. It was pretty, but it wasn't enough.  So I was thinking of what I could add, maybe more rhinestones colored like bulbs???  No, they were too big for that little tree.  I noticed one of those little strip pieces on my worktable and I set it across the bottom "branches" of the tree and I thought it may work. So I cut up three pieces and set them in place and I liked what I saw so I glued them down! I even took a tiny piece and added it to one of the berries to give it the look of being shiny!!

To assemble this card you need to have everything done first, including adding the words.  Tape the Whisper White layer in place on top of the Emerald Envy piece.  Then take the glued glitter paper layers and add Dimensionals around the circle (on the backside).  Hover over the tree piece and set the glitter layers on top. Turn the piece over again and add more Dimesionals around the back and add some snail tape to the back of the tree piece.  Line this piece up over the Whisper White layer and press in place.  And that's it!  You can embellish a little more on the front if you wish, but you can't stamp on it, the top layer is not solid enough to allow you to get a clean image.

I have always loved using this layout.  It's my favorite.  I have used it for many years.  Whenever I get a small image, this layout is my go to one!!

Thank you ever so much for stopping by today,
Wanda
