Matchbox Die Purse Weekend Project

I made this adorable little box purse a while back.  I probably saw it on someones blog and just had to copy it.  If I did please let me know if it's your creation and I will give you full credit and a link back.

To make this box I used the "Matchbox" Sizzix die.  The base of the box is just cut out of plain card stock. I folded it up as usual.

Then I put the top piece of the box plus a scrap piece in the textured Cuttlebug folder (I'm not sure what that folder is called).  After I got the texture on the card stock I ran my VersaMark pad over it and sprinkled on clear embossing powder.  Then I heated the powder up.  For the flap of the purse box I cut the scrap piece (which was clear embossed) 1-1/8" x 2-1/8".  Before gluing it onto the front of the box I added a colored rhinestone brad to it and I used a corner rounder on two of the corners.

Oh and before I assembled the bottom part of the box I punched a hole in the end and added the ribbon.  After the ribbon was taped in I assembled the box bottom.  You don't want to tie a knot in the ribbon because it will be too bulky.  I just taped one end of the ribbon in one direction and the other end going in the opposite direction.  That will keep the ribbon as flat as possible.

These little boxes are adorable and they really don't take that long to make at all.  The embossing probably took the longest.

These would make great gifts for co-workers, a fun Make n Take, a quick Stamp Camp project and I may even make a few for the fall craft fair.  When I make them I think I will either use matching ribbon or color the ribbon to match.  The white ribbon is ok but it would be cuter if it matched.  These little boxes hold 4 Hershey Nuggets.  The are about 2" x 2-1/2" so you can find other things that size to fit inside them.  I was thinking about lip balm in it.  I am not sure if it will fit but there are so many brands out there and different sizes that I'm sure I will be able to find some to fit!

SO go have some fun making these!

Thank you SO much for visiting today,
Wanda
