Altered Notebooks

Here's some fun notebooks I altered. I used the small composition notebooks. You have to wait for Walgreen's to have them on sale or you pay a lot for them. When they have a sale I can usually get them at 3 for $1.00. Such a deal. But they usually limit you to 6 so I tend to go back later in the week or I go to other Walgreen's, grabbing an ad as I head out the door so I have a coupon for my next purchase!!! Some deals are just too great to pass up!!

I covered the notebooks with some leftover decorative paper I had. I did use my Crop-A-Dile to make holes in the front and back cover to thread the ribbon through. I wanted the ribbon to be secure but not glued on. Gluing the ribbon doesn't always come out the way you want it to. You have to be SO careful as to how much glue you use plus it will many times bleed through the ribbon and look even uglier. So I try to avoid it when I can. You can use double sided tape but it's difficult to keep it off the edges and when you are ready to set it in place you need to be exact because it's difficult to remove it nicely off decorative paper.

I used the Defining Alphabet set and the Define Your Life set on the front of the notebooks. The "K" letters accompanied the "kindness" definition from the Define Your Life set. "Y" with "you", "R" with "remember" and "D" with "delight." These were a LOT of fun to make!!

The black edges were already on the notebook so I worked around them. I set my decorative paper on the notebook and traced the notebook with a pencil to get the right measurements. The front and back do not measure the same so you have to do them both separately.

These make great gifts too!

I love these. The Dollar Tree often has mini comp books four for $1.00 so maybe I'll pick some up and decorate them.

I think this is a great idea and can not wait to show the 8th grade graduation class parents these. They will make a great addition to the baskets we are making the kids.
